Gotta replace my two front tyres on my Mazda MPS. Gonna use blackcircle and have the following prices. Need 215/45/R18 Tyres :

Kumho KU31 : £105.52

Toyo Proxes T1-R : £127.88

Pirelli P Zero Nero - £95.35

Bridgestone RE050 - £152.50

The car came fitted with the Bridgestone RE050's, which I am not that impressed with. Found the grip so-so, and they are nearly down to the wear bar after 8.5k miles on the clock.

Any opinions?

Forget about the nero, they came as standard on my fiesta st and were pants on that, let alone something with 100hp more going through em

215/45 is quite a low profile tyre?

I'd get the Pirelli's, cheapest and still reputable brand.

its just i get a really crap selection while searching the usual suspects for cheap tyres

Camskill have a great deal on Eagle F1s at the minute, but they dont come up with this tyre size.

In fact, it only comes up with 2 tyre choices, hence my post clarifying. It appears to be a slightly unusual tyre size.

Isnt the MPS quite a powerful car? If so then get the Toyos. Pirelli tyres are horrible they dont offer that much grip and all their range of tyres are noisy. I had P-Zero Rossos on the A3 and I took them of at 4k miles they were that dire. They also have a habit of their tyres going out of shape(part of why they get really noisy).

im almost purposly aiming to go on a track day to burn my Pirelli's out so i can get some better tyres on my ST.... I hate em!

lookin at Toyo T1R's, Toyo PX4's or Goodyear F1's...ideas?

DONT go for Dunlops or Continental Sport contact 2's again quite soft, and last 12-15k on the ST, with the extra power in the MPS you will barely get 10k out of them.

Goodyears or Michelin sport i reckon. The vredsteins get a good write up aswell, havent tried them tho.

224/40r18 isn't far off, and seems to be much cheaper.

I'd also look at Falken FK452's. I have them on my Cerbera and they seem pretty decent.

I've never had any problems with proxes T1-R's in the dry but they're not the greatest tyre in the wet. Still good for the money
