Got any recommendations? what are the random ones people have started raving about?

Size needs to be 255/45 R17 - i'm doing reasonable mileage so don't want anything overly soft either... but no ditch finders! ;)

a friend of mine used to live by toyo t1rs on her a3, but it used to go through them in months.

last august she got a set of kumho ku31s. theyre still very alive and she prefers them over the t1rs.

i recommend them a lot

it's defo 225/45 R17

i've got T1R's on mine and they have been on since bginning of Feb and i've had no complaints yet, they replaced Goodyear eagle F1's, i'll definitely buy the Toyos again depending on how long they last, i've put about 5k on them so far and there's still loads of tread left.

Mine are 225/45-17's on my A3 and im currently using Dunlop Sport Maxx and am very impressed, they seem to provide loads of grip in wet and dry.

depends on what you want from the tyre?
I stand by my yohko Spec 2's they have lasted me ages considering there compound. good in the wet and fantastic in the dry.
Could always go for some R888's :D

THis sounds like the same size I've just had fitted to my Octy.
I went for Bridgestone RE050A - and have been more than happy.
Nice smooth ride, very quiet and plenty of grip.

I had some of these, the RE050's are great, the RE050A's are really really soft, they lasted me little more than 6k on the front and 10k on the back which is appauling.
