I've had enough, these RE040's are dangerous so I'm gonna fit 4 new tyres to the CTR.

I want something that won't wear out in 2000 miles but will also give a decent amount of grip, gimme some recommendations!

Ask the owners club :)

Sorry to sound harsh :o But in my experience they tend to know which tyres suit the car best :)

Personally I've got TR-1's* on the back of mine and I've not had a wobble yet when pushing hard.

Though I think I'll try Bridgestone Potenza RE720s next as they're suppost to be even better.

*TR-1's are known for wearing out quick though, cheap as chips mind :)

I like toyo t1-r's and would recomend them to anybody, but always say to be wary if you are someone who drives hard enough to get a decent amount of heat into your tyres they will be destroyed in no time, yokohama's and bridgestones seem to take hard driving better.

Other than that there great value for money.

I have Toyo TR-1s on my daily driver and they are brilliant, drove to london last Friday when it was ******* it down with rain and they were still quite grippy.... have heard good things about Potenzas too

I've heard goodyear F1's are quite grippy.

I run Avon ZV1's myself which I find grippy in the wet and dry, but they no longer do them, but they do do ZV3's which are meant to be similar.

Sorry they are, just a little joke as one member contstantly makes the cheese comment when they were fitted to his Saxo and another member recently had a nasty "offroad excursion" with them :o

Maybe the Avon's would be a better choice... In fact my friend who recommended the F1's to me had them on his car... he also managed to roll his 309gti on a country lane. :D Maybe F1's are grippy but cursed?

Have T1-Rs on my lude, even in the very wet weather we have had up here they have performed really well. Cheap too, so even if they do wear a bit quicker than others it'll work out about the same in the long run.

My RE040's will be replaced with Toyo T1-R's soon:)

I read Japanese RE040's are good tyres though, is this not the case?

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 - seem to work well on reasonably powerful FWD cars.

I need 2 tyres for the GTI and after a lot of hunting on the GTI forums it seems these are the tyres of choice. With similar performance and handling I would have thought this is a good bet.

Im getting them fitted in a week or so, but be warned they are not cheap!
