I currently have a 7850 2GB and looking to upgrade with a budget of £120. Not looking to buy new was looking at getting something from the MM. Would I actually be able to get anything worth upgrading to for around £120?

My PSU is a 500W OCZ and I'm not sure if I'd need to upgrade this to.

Offhand a 280 is the equivalent to a 7950 , 280x is 7970.
Power depends on the rest of the system , quite a few psu calcs out there.
But I've ran a 280x on a 500w psu personally so should be fine

An R9 280 (7950) would probably net you a pretty good gain over your 7850. Could you not sell your 7850 and look for something a little better? Then you could maybe scrape a GTX 780 or R9 290 with that money on top, should just about be ok on a decent 500w PSU as long as nothing is mega overclocked.

I'm in the same boat as you but people are telling me I can't run a GTX970 off a 500w OCZ without pushing the PSU to within an inch of its life

The £120 would be with the sale of the 7850 so it's the maximum really. I could pick up a 280x from the MM for about £120 though which would be ideal. Just need to make sure my PSU would be decent for it.

280X would be about the best card for £120. Alternatively buy my HIS IceQ 7950 within the MM for £80, overclock it past 280X performance, and spend the saving's on sardines & curry paste:D,
