What version of Linux?

Ok, looking to start learning about Linux and given the unused hard drive in my PC at the moment - what better place to start! Right, past experience with linux is nill however I don't want to use something like ubuntu.

Just wondering what you guys recommend for me, nothing too easy but then nothing amazingly hard! Would be interested to see what you think

Fedora - it's not Ubuntu (although I'm not sure why it is that you don't want to use that) but it's still friendly enough and has a large enough community for when you need some advice.
