i have a evga 780 sc ref model and would like to water cool it, but im having trouble finding a full block for it, can i use EK-FC770 GTX on the 780.

Does it have to be plexi? The only full cover blocks I can find for that model are opaque.

i think there the ones i saw, but for them to be clear im gonna have to polish them up. Might have to order the bitspower ones from the states if i cant find anything, but then would need a backplate and not sure what plate to get.

Well The gasket I just pressed it in the groove and it held in while I re-positioned the top.

I was told to avoid a dremel, hand polish all the way.

Google: "lowfat polishing"
There's a guide elsewhere which I followed, very good results posted with it

thanks for your help, if i can polish it up rather than sanding that would be ok.:D

polishing alone can get nice results
for a 'glass like' look you need to sand

just been reading the links, does seem abit easier than i thought, just a matter of getting the right gear i suppose, im on a bit of a learning curve at present, as i start my new build soon and im gonna try acrylic tube bending, just not sure on a case at the moment, i want another parvum but in atx, but im looking at the hex r40.:D

Yeah. Its a bit of gathering supplies, I got it all from the rainforest.
Aaah bending, that's this weekend's chore. Wait.... I mean party? :p
I'll probably do a similar thread walkthrough. But there's plenty already.

I wanted the same thing, parvum are gonna have their hands full when they release their atx.
I'm getting the paneling for my case done by them. Should be here this week :D

yer nice bunch of blokes, been down there a few times, i know they have some atx out to modders or will be in a few weeks so wont be long, just wished they could give me a case, there just isnt anything else like they offer, but looking forward to next build, but just takes awhile to save up, the water cooling bits is costing me near to 700 so far, i keep changing my mind on pumps and res at the moment.:D

God.
Never add up the cost of water cooling, and never tell your partner that figure :D

no worries il just add the shoes and bags up, im sure the mood would change then lol, so inyho would you pick the EK block over the bitspower and could i still put a Ek backplate on the card with bitspower w/b on.

Bitspower are a lovely brand with nice kit. And a hell of a markup. I like EK, they look good IMO especially the circles all polished :p
But really I couldn't bring myself to pay for their blocks, shipping alones enough :o

The backplate should fit, there's only so many holes, just check the 2 pieces use the same ones.

do you mean dont use the same holes, ive got the evga one on the card at present, maybe i could get a custom one made up as it only needs to be plan .:) so bitspower the way to go if the price is right.

once i decide on a case i can get the pump/res, i tried to get overclockers to order me a bitspower z-multi res but i wanted it in a clear cap with some spare white ones for future builds, but they wont. i put a message to customer services and to New Product Suggestions.

whats the best way to clean a water block if there is slight staining, only ive seen one for sale its the full block EK-SE one with a back plate, just not sure on the price of £77 is worth it.

Apart from flushing it with something like a Mayhems blitz solution, simply remove the allen bolts holding the two halves of the block together and give it a manual clean.
Just make sure the oring is properly in place and that the bolts are evenly tightened when you put it back together and you're good to go.

ok thanks, is the price good for it.

I got my full cover for 30, B-Grade OCUK
just to throw a price out there

its hard to find a good deal, ive told this person a price for im willing to pay for one of the blocks and backplate on the understander if its in good condition i will buy the other set off him, just in case i need a spare or go sli, i said for him to go and have a think and come back to me, im in no rush as ive loads of bits still to get, and im know pondering on changing my res/pump so gives me time to think, plus still thinking of what case to get, i so want another Parvum but i want it a bit bigger, even looked at a caselabs s5 but there quite abit of money.

Yeah,
The quest for that perfect case is what drove me to build my own.
Case labs are lovely, but it is a hell of a cost.

im gonna wait abit to see what Parvum are gonna do, and Hex gears R40 case, ive also compaired the watercooling shops in the UK to those in America, you have got much more choice and different versions of pumps, reservoirs etc with more choice of colours, we have just black caps for reservoirs, they have clear, white, gold, and black, there is so much i could order but the shipping is a joke, and when you asked companys in UK to order it they say they cant, if they stock the product why not get different variations of it, ive come across a pump and top i like but to fit the reservior to it you need upgrade kits, surely if that reservior would fit more pumps just getting the upgrade kit in isnt that a no brainer, its like they get in only half what that product can do, thats not a good sales pitch is it, as you the consumer and the company are not reaching out as far as they could go to make more sales, not items that do half the job.

well, when we talk the likes of bitspower, it's really supply and demand
they have >10,000 items, it's a ton of money to get that stocked here if 60% of it never sells.
I recon there's not enough selection as well, but you could find similar people and share the shipping?
get 10 ish people, a 500+ quid order etc

easier said than done, i only want a res with the upgrade kit to fit d5 and ddc pump tops, with clear and a set of white caps to go with future projects, plus a primochill 120mm res with built in holder for the D5, so can go in smaller builds and the bitspower stand up D5 mod kit, simple things why ocuk cant get them beats me, bitspower do a brass cap res now, would look great in a black and yellow build.
