What video player do you use?

MPC-HC. If I have any video playing problems it tends to be a codec problem...

Using LAV video decoder with ffdshow audio decoder. All plays perfect.

However VLC usually tends to "just work" as it has it's own set of codecs. Probably best to use this if codecs confuse you.

MPC:HC, it's just so incredibly efficient, flexible and customisable. Example; i didn't like that clicking on the video made it pause. hit "o" and go to keys, change the mouse-option for "play/pause" from "left-down" to "middle-down" problem? gone.

Another example. i'm in a video and i want to go to the next in the folder, i can't be bothered to create playlists... ever. In MPC:HC, i just press "Page-Down".

In VLC i can't do either of these things, not to mention numerous other usability issues. HPC:HC RULES

Hi guys,

I've always used Media Player Classic Home Cinema for as long as I can remember, however I'm thinking of changing media player because when playing some 1080p/720 MKV files, certain scenes in the movies will stutter/jump a bit.

I watch a lot of 1080p/H264 stuff - what media player would you recommend to have the smoothest playback?

My mate uses BS Player, and suggested this for the smoothest playback. I haven't tried it yet though, thought I'd get some more opinions from intesne media folk =]

Cheers guys, any input appreciated

MPC-HC with Shark007's codec pack. Never had a problem with full HD or any other videos.

i don't understand why vlc is so popular, it is great for the occasional clip but mpc hc and media player are so much more polished.

WMP for me, trying to play 720p or 1080p with VLC results in quite a choppy video, WMP is smooth and perfect.

Can't find an faults with the trusty WMP on W7 :)

KMPlayer. Used it for so many years now, don't even think of using anything else...Never had problems with any files (including audio files)

My current video setup.

32bit I just use mpchc with the internal codecs, with standard settings. and lavfilters 32bit. (not lav audio), system default renderer. madvr is also cool to checkout on the 32bit.

64bit
player: I use mpch-hc with no internal codecs
splitter: lav filters 64bit
video and audio codecs: latest ffdshow-tryouts 64bit build
renderer: EVR sync with dxva disabled.

MPC-HC, obvioius reasons, better playlist support and spec, DXVA, it has my logo built into it, is more up to date, it also has a better Android app for wireless control.

Video quality is the same as WMP, they both use hardware decode where possible so there should not be any difference anyway.
