Head scratching question of the day to finish off a lame Monday, if space & time began with the big bang then what was around before it, and how did the elements form to cause the big bang?

Time, is one thing but how did all this come about, the making of the whole entire universe.....that came from the big firework that is the ever expanding universe?

I thank you, and bid you good night.

It's a fascinating topic, one of those subjects that just seems impossible to get your head around. I think some physicists would have a hearty lol to themselves at the thought of there being 'anything' before the big bang. I'd like to think it was some crazy experiment that went wrong :D

My idea is there are dimensions of energy crashing into each other. In these other dimensions there's an infinite amount of energy, when these come into contact they convert in to mass creating a Universe.

Exist in my head anyhow :D

There are papers etc on what came before the big bang, but it;s not something that can really be explained in laymens/scifi understanding terms.

It's pages and pages of maths.

The universe probably got bored of all that maths and exploded so it could watch people pew pew with lasers and make love to 6 breasted aliens.

Everything (all matter and energy as we know it) was in an infinitely small space, where the laws of physics were drastically different and it's theorized that there was a single 'super force' that later split into separate forces, such as gravity and magnetism.

The universe, and all the matter within it, have all existed for infinity (time).

The big bang was probably the result of the universe having collapsed in on itself then re expanded. ie the universe existed before the big bang.

That's the theory I like and I'm sticking to it.

Since time is all relative, maybe there isn't a "before the Big Bang"? One big loop, perhaps? Who knows? We can apply all the maths, science and logic we like, but we'll never truly know.

So far, a wizard made it. Tefal said something about 6 breasted aliens and some guys head exploded.

This is what I was looking for.

PS. I like the imploding/exploding theory, kinda makes sense since its been expanding for trillions of years....ya know like a slow yo-yo.

But what was around before the yo-yo I ask?

:p

Infinite nothingness.

Edit: Seeing as time isn't linear, then what came before the Big Bang is the same as what came after.
