Whats the best thing that can go into a socket A mobo?

Ive got an xp2500 at 3200 at the minute, back in the day that seemed fine, but did anything better come out?

You need a 400Mhz FSB capable mobo for the 3200, the 3000 came in 333Mhz and 400Mhz FSB versions.

my motherboard is a dfi infinity nf2 i think. its red.. thats all i know haha

The best? Depends on what you mean. I'm still running an XP1700 DLT3C at 2406MHz without breaking sweat. Not many processors can go from 1466 to 2406.

ah this thread brings back some memories. The XP Mobile chips were (And still are) excellent clockers, and so many people got socket A boards and a nice 2500M or 2600M chip and clocked the hell out of it! :)

I had two IQYHAs that did 2.75Ghz on air :D Always wanted to swap my DFI for a NF7-S to break 3Ghz but never got round to it. Had some great fun, probably wasn't a lot slower than all the A64 systems I've had either, could have saved a load of money :D

i think im gonna keep my old rig and oc the hell out of it then :D

whats the best socket a i can get compatible with a ASUS A7V333 ??

Mobile 2500/2600, IQYHA stepping or similar. Not a great board to overclock on because of the low FSB it supports, but you can still ramp the multiplier up and get some decent speeds.

yeah i have an NF7-S v2 still in my current rig, clocks quite nicely with the 2500M XP, and cooled with a Zalman Reserator. I've not really played round with it for ages (i dont really need any additional speed for my uses at the mo) though. Great fun clocking it to **** though :D
