fastest sockt a chips was the 3200 barton i belive.

You need a 400Mhz FSB capable mobo for the 3200, the 3000 came in 333Mhz and 400Mhz FSB versions.

The best? Depends on what you mean. I'm still running an XP1700 DLT3C at 2406MHz without breaking sweat. Not many processors can go from 1466 to 2406.

I had two IQYHAs that did 2.75Ghz on air
Always wanted to swap my DFI for a NF7-S to break 3Ghz but never got round to it. Had some great fun, probably wasn't a lot slower than all the A64 systems I've had either, could have saved a load of money

Mobile 2500/2600, IQYHA stepping or similar. Not a great board to overclock on because of the low FSB it supports, but you can still ramp the multiplier up and get some decent speeds.

i have a mxp running 12x245, 2940(water)
and a 1700+ at 2400mhz on air too
both are 24/7 crunchers in WCG for Xs

yeah i have an NF7-S v2 still in my current rig, clocks quite nicely with the 2500M XP, and cooled with a Zalman Reserator. I've not really played round with it for ages (i dont really need any additional speed for my uses at the mo) though. Great fun clocking it to **** though
