what was that oil website?

Why?

The CTR is just a n/a engine so nothing particularly special about it, high revs or not.

Saab started off by recommending semi-synth for all their engines apart from the Aero on the 9-5 which over time has been a major mistake. Now many engines have failed from oil sludge and they have been forced to extend the engine warrenty to 8 years.

The Aero's which were specified with fully synthetic oil from day one gave all been troublefree. It's unsuprising that now ALL Saab engines are specified with fully synthetic oils

the castrol link sorta makes sense. before i take the step then, im going to make sure my engine is oil tight, i currently pay about £15 for 5L, fully synth millers is about £24, i dont want that being dripped over the driveway :D

I was just saying that grade of oil is justified by a high revving performance engine. Most Saabs are turbo's which explains why you kinda need full synth...

Yeah and? Sludge can easily be combated by additives and its one of the key reasons why the API classifications exist. Sludge is not an issue on engines with an API SM /SL oil.

There is a lot more to an oil than simply fully synth or semi synth

Turbo's put less of a load on oil than people think. A higher revving needs a better oil as it puts oil under high shear loads, these soon break down oil. Turbo's simply add heat of temperatures no higher than bearings or piston rings.

You have money to waste then if you are changing fully synth every 5k :) Oh sentences do not start with And if your going to be pedantic with my terminology :P

I didn't mean to sound pedantic, it was a joke :)... A good one at that.
