I used to play it all the time but can't remember what it was called.....

Basically you are in a car (I think it was a police car) and you have to crash into the back of a car you are chasing to slow it down and eventually you bash it so much the car has to stop.
 
I've got another one..... you are a bloke that runs down corridors and shoots monsters....what was unique about it was that you physically twist the joystick left or right to rotate the character 90 degrees to go down different corridors.

Any ideas?
 
A near certainty.

Xybots was great back in the day, bit of a precursor to the fps genre. Loved that whole era of the Atari arcade releases, the unique iconic sounds and speech from the Yamaha chips and the great dedicated cabs.

If you've got PC VR check out the Compound demo, it's a tunnel shooter that has remarkable feel and resemblance to Xybots.
