What was the specs of your first PC ??

First pc was bought second hand of a mate, I had a couple of pc's off him when he upgraded. It was a 486 sx 25, can't remember ram, but had roughly a 300mb drive. I always remember the message - It's now safe to turn off your computer.

Intel Pentium II 300Mhz overclocked to 333MHz
32MB RAM
ATI RAGE II 4MB
Chaintech mobo
Quantum Bigfoot 4GB harddrive
21x CDROM
15" CRT Monitor

First PC was a P90, 8MB (I think), 512MB HD, Diamomd Stealth GPU, 4x CD-ROM and a 15" monitor. Got Enemy Unknown and Syndicate for it, good times.

First PC bought in 1989 for around £2,000 was a Dell 320 with the spec:

20MHz 80386 DX (no co pro)
1MB of RAM
40MB IDE Hard Disk Drive
Full size AT keyboard
Hercules Graphics (mono)
12" Mono monitor
Dell DOS 3.3
5 1/4" Floppy Drive

Somewhat of a beast of a machine at the time in terms of specification and size as the thing weighed over 50lbs and in a full size desktop case or basically a tower case on its side.

First computer - Dragon 32

First PC - Home built Intel 486-DX33, with 2MB RAM, Cirus Logic 512kb VGA and small expensive hard disk. Optical drive was added a fair bit later.

First one I built was:

P4 Northwood 2.8ghz@ 3.1 GHz with thermalright XP-120 HSF
Asus P4C-800E mobo
1GB Corsair xms3200 ultra low latency (£230 kit!)
Asus 6800GE GPU
Antec Neopower 480W PSU
Thermaltake tsunami dream case
Samsung optical drive

My first ever build, switched on two days before I first started uni, was a very expensive build (£1500 with peropherals!) but considered pretty decent in 2004 I think:)

My first PC belonged to my Dad's friend and he dug it out of the garage of his wargames club and changed some bits and pieces so I could do homework on it. As far as I remember it was;
Pentium 120
16 or 32 Mb Ram
5 GB hard drive
It was just about running Windows 2000.

I started off with a ZX81 with 16k ram pack

then

Amstrad CPC 464 with colour monitor.

then

Commodore Amiga 500

then

Commodore Amiga 1200 with expansion care (co-pro) and diy fitted 250mb HDD.

My first IBM based PC was a pre-built from tiny computers. An atx tower with MSI mobo, pentium III 450, 256mb memory, 16GB HDD, 32mb GFX card and 17" colour monitor.

I remember my mate had a 486 and some stupidly slow internet through modem. It took about 5 minutes to download one picture (porn of course) from a site directory that was just a list of pics. Was only 12 i think at the time, my mates brother showed us. It was like magic seeing hardcore porn on a computer (13 years ago) !!
