What was your first ever CPU?

When I was 8 my parents bought our first ever PC and it had a Pentium III in it. I'll be damned if I remember the speed though...

SO
Pentium III
Pentium IV
AMD Athlon
AMD Athlon64
AMD Athlon X2
Intel C2D E6850
Intel C2D E8600 - just sold :'( [my favourite ever chip]
Intel i3 530

Looking at an i5 quad for my first foray into quad cores :)

AMD Athlon 850 T-Bird. nice chip, OC'd it to a whopping 1000MHz, ran pretty damn hot at that speed. :p

Cyrix 233mhz
Pentium 1 333mhz
Pentium 2 500mhz
Athlon XP 1800+ I think
Celeron 2.4ghz
Athlon II X2 240 (2.8ghz @ 3.6)
Athlon II X4 630 (2.6Ghz Unlocked L3 @ 3.6)
Phenom II 955 (3.2Ghz @ 4Ghz)

Quite a short history, all of those have been my own PCs the cyrix was xmas 97 I think so I would have just turned 6

Lol at the downgrade from an XP 1800 to a celeron 2.4ghz.

8080 on Altair 8800 at after school technical college on computer programming in about 1977 or 78

Was it worth it? Why not just go 1200 to 4400? I'd say a CPU is only worth considering if it at least tipples CPU performance.

also forgot to add that that cpu died due to water/rust and because it was running at 2.1volts instead of 1.6 ;)

Mine was a Z80 in a TRS-80 in maybe 1979. First x86 chip was a 386DX25.

Just think, in 30 years' time there will be another thread asking the same question, and people who answer i7 will be thought of as 'dead old'!
