What was your first online Multiplayer game?

BF1942, used to spend ages trying to get a decent 56k connection to a server, thankfully Cable and Wireless launched their medium band cable service (it was something like 100kbps I seem to recall) which I pushed myself to pay for, turned out to save me money as I suddenly stopped buying computer mags due to having read it all online beforehand :)

Dabbled for a while in the late 90s but properly got into Return to Castle Wolfenstein for a year and then heavily in to BF1942 which I still play today.

Also was in a clan competitively against =XDC= in Enemy Territory Quake Wars for a while :)

I seem to remember that you consistently spanked us...

I played the original Doom on LAN. But my first proper online experience was counterstrike Beta, shortly followed by 1.6

I am old :(

Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear for me in 1999. This was back on dial up with GameSpy and the experience was awful in comparison to just 2/3 years later. Quickly moved over to CS from RS.

Quakeworld for me for online, follwed by Q2 and then Halflife

Also had fun times playing Duke Nukem between 2 pcs hooked up with serial cable!

Name rings a bell - use to play with APOC / Evolution guild!
I tended to keep a low profile to be honest - that game was all about the drama, and I was keen to avoid it for the most part. I did spend many an hour in the Womb Temple KR, however :D

Unreal Tournament 99.

That game dominated my life for several years (so much so my mother sold the computer to make me go outside) Loved me some CTF on Lava Giant with the Instagib red shock rifles. Those were the days.

Mine was CS :) I was pretty dam good at it as well and then moved on too the likes of BF - I don't play CS Source , I hate how the gun aiming has changed so much from CS.

The Legend of Mir 2. I was fortunate enough to have a 512kb cable connection back in 2002, so I spent many, many hours on the game without the frustration of the connection dropping out.

Level 40 Taoist on the Phoenix server :D

Lucky sod to have 512kb back then! haha must have cost a bit.

Another MIR2 player here. :D Was my first online Multiplayer and the only one I could play on a 56k dial-up along with Urban Terror (Quake Mod) which didn't play too bad considering it was over dial up.

bf 1942 was for me... remember some good battles vs XDC, was in Homeguard as it was called back then, then something else then MPG then something else....

Delta Force 2. Oh my, the memories. Started with no idea how to play an FPS game. Came away as a well known sniper. That game was way ahead of it's time: having to adjust shots for wind speed, bullet drop, distance and target movement. I was Bob V 1 in the Soldiers of Annihilation (SoA). Amazing game online.
