Hi there everyone,

I'm just finalising a few bits for my new computer and was looking for confirmation regarding a power supply.

I5 4670k
8gb DDR3 RAM utilising 4 slots.
ATI Radion HD7700 1gb
3x 2TB 7200 RPM HDD
2x 120gb SSD
2x 120mm Case fans
NZXT Kraken (single size rad)

Power supply wise i'm guessing a 400w would not be powerful enough? what about 500w?

Hi there,
The budget i have in mind is as cheap as possible. I was looking at the 400 and 500w Xigmatek PSUs from here as they are cheap and modular (well semi) and also have black cables all the way to the plugs which would save me from buying sleeving.

The Pc will have two main uses, One is for my photo editing (lightroom and photoshop)
The other is for my IT courses (CEH v8 etc.) which may involve using one or two virtual machines but only one at a time. At a later day i will upgrade the ram and possibly the CPU to an i7.
As for the choice of 7700, my mate has one for sale for £20 so thought it would be a cheap but reasonable GPU.
The HDD Choice is that i already have 2x 2TB HDDs and 1x 120 SSD so was just going to fill the void with matching drives. I was going to use one of the SSDs for a scratch disk for the Adobe software.

Thanks for the feedback, Are the Mavericks that bad!? I was kind of thinking i may get one to get me going, and then upgrade to a "propper" one within 6 months as i may also be looking at getting a R9 290 card as an upgrade.
