What will have the best gaming performance?

An

AMD Athlon 64 bit 4000 San Diago 1MB L2 Cache (slightly cheaper but the difference barely comes into it)

or

AMD® ATHLON® 64BIT X2 4400 2 x 1MB L2 Cache



Bare in mind i'll be primarily using the rig for high end gaming, to acompany my 1024MB GEFORCE 7950GX2 but will also be running programs like virtual machine!

Please give me your comments/feedback/suggestions, thanks in advance!

Edit: also needs to be as future proof as possible, starting university in sept and wont be able to afford another one until my paid placement year!

The FX60 is the best one there but really isn't worth the money. The Intel Conroe E6600 is better than the FX60 an is only £250 compared to the FX60's £570 price tag.

Sorry Ive removed that one Given the price and what ive read it was obvious the FX was going to be the best performer, its also a little over my price range!

How much are you willing to spend on the CPU? Is it a completly new pc you're after or just an upgrade?
