Ok im currently having a debate whether i should switch from 512kbps broadband to 8mb Broadband.

im totally unlimited on my 512kbps connection but this day and age i feel its too slow for its own good with increasing file sizes.

i was looking at adsl24 but with a 30/300gb limit im not sure it would be adequate enough, i can get the 60/330 if needs be but id rather try the 30/300 version first. could anyone else confirm the amount they use if they have a similar trend like me?

I play online games for about 5+ Hours a day depending on the day, weekends can be 10+.

I watch and upload youtube videos a lot of the time, tend to listen to streaming music, download game updates/new games.

and other general use, my sister uses it for web browsing and youtube also.

Thanks for any help.

I do the same as you and use the 30/300gb but most of my surfing is after 6pm which I think is off peak... dont forget that all weekends are classed as off peak. My sisters use it during the day for youtube and messaging... its a majorly fast service as well

On ADSL24 the off-peak times is from 10pm-8am and from Friday at 10pm to Monday at 8am. So all weekend is off-peak.

For some reason, lately i have been hitting my 30GB limit with ADSL24 (in fact i needed to pay extra last month for going over by 990mb :(). Its probably cause i got a new graphics card and have been downloading a lot of demos and stuff. Off-peak is great at the weekend cause its basically unlimited cause it would be fairly difficult to download 300GB.

i calculate using a 512k connection 24/7 (assuming max speed of 60kb/s) you're using ~160gb a month. so i think you'll be ok. and of course you can monitor your usage online or by using a little program called enta tool which retrieves your data from their servers - it's updated every 24 hours. :)

edit: forgot to include upload in calculations - that counts as well. either way i still think 30/300 will be enough. :)

are you in a Be* enabled area, if so, £24 a month for up to 24MB, truly no download limits, wireless router, best ISP i've ever used!

Im not in the Be* area im affraid, and i cant get cable.

Theirs a new Service called Wi-Max which reaches trully godly speeds on a wireless band, my city is going to be implementing it by 2009 but as im no true technician (yet :P) i dont know whether it will be a city connection or a county connection.

Either way i think i will go with ADSL24, thanks for the input and experience guys /girls :)
