The world isn't going to end on 2012 though for some people it may seem like that. The world will go through some major, possibly difficult, changes up until 2012. Basicaly Dec 21 2012, or sometime there abouts, is when the earth enters the astrological sign of aquarius which will last for the next 4000 years.
At the moment we are in the age of pisces (I think) and as that age is coming to end very, very soon, so will many of things that symptomatic of the age of pisces such as centralised power, governments, individuals leading and controlling the masses.
We already starting to see the signs of this now with the total disillusionment with the political system by the masses. I know people have always been disillusioned with there so-called leaders but it has reached an all time low and is unsustainable for much longer. Everywhere else we look be it the media, music, films, economy, education system and the whole fairytasle of illusion of material existance we are seeing it begin to rapidly decay. This is a natural process because for the new to come in the old has to move out of the way.
I think things will really get going around 2010-2011. The world is ready for another revolution. What forms this 'revolution' will take is anyones guess. It maybe a peaceful revolution like what came in the 1960s or it maybe something more aggressive. What it won't be is the end of the world though it maybe the end of our current way of life.
I've read that there are elements in the govenrment that are aware of 2012 and these bigger cosmic cycles. And this is why theres a big rush to get legislation of 90 day detention without trial so when things get going, they can round up the subversives on the frontline and hold them for 90 days while the 'movement' hopefuly dies down. I doubt they'll be succesful though as this is the state essentiasly trying to supress evolution! In america they've had similar legislation introduced with the patriot act and are also building interment camps across the country.
