What would be a decent upgrade

Im currently running an overclocked Geforce 260GTX and feel its getting a little bit dated now.

My system is used for gaming (mostly MMO's Lotro, GW2 and strategy games like medieval) and some basic photoshop editing.

How much would I need to spend to see a good upgrade that will also last for a good few years. However I am loath to spend the money of the top end cards.

Thanks in advance for your advice

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA GeForce GTX 460 Superclocked FTW 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (01G-P3-1363-KR) £124.99
1 x Sapphire HD 7770 OC EDITION 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £119.99
1 x MSI HD 6850 "Dual Fan Edition" 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £119.99
Total : £376.37 (includes shipping : £9.50).

One of them I imagine. Can you give us a better idea on your budget? 560ti's may come into play etc. I took a random assumption of £150 absolute max and £100 preferable expenditure but that's guesswork.

wait for price drops on 660ti/7950 - I'm willing to bet one or the other hits £200 in the next few months

or get the 7850 now

That sounds like sound advice. My card still runs games just not quite as well as I would like. So I can probably survive waiting a little while yet...

Though I might splash out on the 7850 as does look like a good card

It certainly is a good card. Even without overclocking (and they really do overclock!), a stock 7850 will be twice as fast as your 260gtx. :)

Good suggestion. Ive been lazy and only done a very basic overclock on it. I shall be brave and have a play with the cpu speeds. Ive got a Fenrir cooler so that wont be an issue on the overheating side of things

a radeon 7850 or a 560ti or anything above would all be nice upgrades. the radeon 5870 which is similar to a 7850/560ti was nearly gtx 295 speed when it came out! so those cards would be like going to faster than a gtx 295 with no sli issues and dx11 support!
