I have 2x1GB Ram in my machine. The specs are:

Now! I have XP. XP can only take 3-4GB. So will I benefit from either:
a) Upgrading to this as a replacement (it has 800mhz):
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK).
I can then sell the RAM on that I have.

b) Having the new RAM alongisde my current ram to have 4 gigs running at the lower speed (althought XP can't utilise it all).

The ocz ram you are looking to upgrade at runs at the same speed as your current ram as its pc2-6400 which runs at 400MHz which is 800MHz after the ddr is applied.

Only thing better is its cl4 ram whereas your present stuff is cl5

As for running the two lots together they may or may not run nicely together as it can be hit and miss mixing different types of ram. The new ocz stuff would need to run at cl5 to match the present ram.

4gb is better than two but just depends if you need it all i suppose. Some boards dont like having all 4 slots filled too. I decided to stick with just 2Gigs for now and have no problems with any games or apps. Depends what you use it for i suppose :)

Interesting though - the part number revealed by the SPD indicates that it's CL4...

Memory confuses the crap out of me.
