You are doing 70mph and some ************ ******* son of a ***** **** faced ******* tries to run you off the road?

Picture below is an example, I know the effects could be random but does anyone know the likely outcome? If I kept on going my wheel/wing would have clipped. Would both drivers crash?

Uh, (and this, I warn you, is from someone who doesn't drive) you are behind him, if he tries to run you off the road and you hold your ground, isn't your car going to clip the back of his and he is going to spin?

I'd just slow a little.

It looks like a move the police use in the States to stop a car, by applying force to the rear wing of the car forces the other car to spin or to slip sideways normally resulting in the car facing the opposite direction. however I think they normally do this at low speeds as high speeds may cause a roll & .. well er death. Then they wouldn't have anyone to beat the **** out of :D

edit: Thats if both cars are travelling the same direction.

Happened a few hour ago so still a little fumed. I basically stayed in my lane moved on and he moved over, I switch lane he did the same and would not let me go. Eventually I just stayed back yeah, no point killing myself for some sadist..

In that kinda situation 'maybe road rage from the other driver??' it's best to either get out of there if you know you can safely out run him or just slow right down so he's forced to move away from you. I tend to stand my ground no matter how close things get with other drivers, luckily nobody has been stupid enough to hit me yet (I would go NUTS!).

i drive a defender most of the time. so i hold my line. if they want to run me off the road - that's fine, i just drive through them.

years ago some guy followed my mother home and thretened to "do her" on the driveway. he had his car blocking the driveway so she couldn't escape, by this time she had called the cops and they were enroute.

my father asked him to leave and he thretened to "do him in" too. so he got into his 110 and rammed the vehicle out the way.

apparantly, there was minimal damage to the LR, but the guys car was a writeoff.

what's even more funny is as he smashed his car out the way, the police were just turning the corner onto the street.

nothing ever came of it.

this was early in the 70s, before i was born. still, its stories like that which made my buy a land rover.

Yeah, I began passing on the second try and he slowly moved in which told me he knew exactly what he was doing as he was carefully watching whilst remaining at the same speed. Probably leave me for dead and continue his day into work.

Are you undertaking him?

Is that like trying to cut in? If so no

Was I the only one sitting there for a few seconds more, double checking I could read through all the stars? :p

i had a landrover for a few years, a series 3 1977 swb pertol, it was hit five times whilst i owned it, it wrote off three cars, and seriously damaged the other two, and in all that time i had a scratch on the wing ( no biggie as most of the time the thing was plasterd in mud anyway) and a crushed numberplate ( it was a pressed alloy one)

I do generally find that there is a pecking order on the road i.e if there bigger than you then let em go however for those times when you have a jerk willing to risk a collision because he has red mist/ road rage/ no brain 2.5 tons of landrover and a nice meety bull bar are hard to beat.

Wow.. you're either unlucky or perhaps a little agressive, writing 3 other cars off!!!

I think the danger in a 4*4 would be high speed, hitting another car could make it swerve severly, and with high centre of mavity/soft suspension.. ouch...

I'm thinking of a Richard Hammond 'Swedish' Rally Flick type of incident..

That picture is immensely confusing....does it go left to right or right to left

Are you overtaking him? Is he close to you on the opposite side of the road, is he overtaking you? What what what?

sort of thing happened to my dad last night, we set off the lights, my dad was going about 50, and this lad, neally going about 80 in a 60 zone, neally push's us off the road in to a petrol station, it does really do your head in

1977 Series III, SWB? Based on my limited knowledge of LR's and the information here: http://www.off-road.com/RoverWeb/IDAR/finals/SIII.html it seems that it probably weighs nearer 1.5 tons :p

2.5 tons is a LOT for any vehicle, especially an older one. A Hummer H2 for all its massive size and bulk, combined with a raft of luxurious extras, only weighs 2.9 tons!

On that theory alone, my car vs. a S3 LR in a shunt, forces will come down to speed.

Well after some stress relief I guess it is just another learning curve, don't drive ever again..lol, I think it was the look in his face that left me thinking what the hell.

His look was as if he knew what to do to cause me an accident, he let me get forward to the point where my wheel aligned with his bumper. Amazing, if I just crashed and tossed in the air then my head went splat he would continue to work like a normal day...how thoughtful!

Oh it's from left to right so he was infront.
