what would happen

There'd probably be compatibility issues, tho you would have to try it to see.

Which PC6400 and motherboard is it?

thought I would do my girlfreind a favour and up grade her ram on her packard bell
from 1 gig to 2 gig and from 5300 to 2 gig 6400 geil black dragon.
but wont post with both sticks and I cant get to any voltage settings as I suspect that is the problem.
so looking to make the most of a bad job.

Do both sticks boot on their own?

If they do, boot into Windows and see what the 'Memory' tab of CPU-Z says. Does it say 333mhz 5-5-5-18 or 400mhz *-*-*-* ?

moved working stick to 2'nd slot, this worked so put the other one in slot one and it all worked. must not have had it seated right or some thing.
But CPU-Z says 200mhz. so got more ram but no more speed.
Still it will go in a new M/B when I get round to it. When she gets my Q6600 hand me down.
