Hi,
Just planning loop and I would like to have my pump and res like this. I would like to use a D5 pump and a Bitspower 150ml reservoir. I was going to join the two using compression fittings and short piece of tube rather then use a metal pipe like the photo. But I would like my pump to sit on my HDD cage like this. What top would I need to do this? and would I need anything else to mount the pump in or anything?

Thanks

You would need a D5 top with 1/4" threads. Male to Male 1/4" fitting to join the res and pump together, the pump top normally comes with a stand.

Ok, thanks.

So this would would work? Not sure if this top fits the pump.

nope, that's a DDC top, you need a D5 top for a D5, or a DDC pump for a DDC top

in the pic above you'll notice that the guy has the DDC on a patch of foam to cut down vibration... DDC's can be noisier than D5's but they are better pumps for loops with more blocks in as they have a higher head pressure

but then I have 2 EK DCP 4.0's in series as they have higher head and cheaper than either DDC's or D5's by the time you include a pump top

Seems like OCUK D5 tops have only 3 x 1/2" ports!(apart from the expensive Bitspower top) so you may not be able to fix the inlet as shown in the above image in post #2.
I used an Alpahcool D5 top before moving to a Bitspower 1/2" ID top, which has 4 x 1/2" ID ports.

I am trying to mount it exactly the same way as the top photo in my first post, I would like to use 1/4 ID ports. Would that EK top do the job?

he doesn't need to fix the pump to anything, he can just hang it off the res as long as the res is properly fixed to something

Speed control dial will be facing the bottom of the case! As long as you have clearance to change the dial it is ok I guess.

I have it "hanging" with the side port now as well. using tubing to hang the pump makes it much more silent, makes the vibrations much less :)

EDIT:
Also the power wires are coming from the bottom of the pump as to the sides with DDC pumps

Ok so if I use EK uni holder brackets to mount the 150ml res to the 5.25 bays and then let the d5 and top hang of the bottom with a hose connecting them, this would stop vibration as the pump in not in contact with the case, would the res/pump and top not be too heavy?

Maybe I will just mound it side ways so I can adjust the pump speed.
