Complete novice here but im toying with the idea of trying to water cool my gpu. I have a H80i on the my cpu and as temps are good with that i have no plans to play with it yet.

My case is a 600t. I have a msi 7970 OC reference card. I would like to keep core/vrm temps below 60c if possible with a water setup, depending on cost.

I have very little idea what id need or how id do it, so have at it experts. :)

for a GPU only loop I would go with an EK DCP 4.0 pump for half the price for a start...

in fact so would I for even a GPU + CPU loop

and for a tri-sli + CPU loop I'd use 2

False economy to start with, as soon as his graphics are under water, he will inevitably want to do the cpu as well.

You can reduce the cost of the D5 pump and reservoir by buying the xspc acrylic D5 res/top and xspc D5 separately (just shy of £86 in total then) I'd also save some by going for the OCUK fatboy 1/2" barbs instead of compression fittings.

Changing those bits will save you £40.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EK Water Blocks EK-FC7970 CSQ £74.99
1 x XSPC D5 Vario (Body + Screwring) £56.99
1 x EK CoolStream Radiator XT 240 (120.2) £38.99
1 x XSPC Acrylic Tank Reservoir for Laing D5 £28.98
1 x Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 Watercooling Fluid 1L £4.99
1 x Mayhems Fine Silver Kill Coil £4.5
2 x XSPC 7/16" ID [16/11mm] High Flex Hose - Clear [1m Length] £2.99 (£5.98)
6 x OcUK 1/2" G1/4 - FatBoy Style - Black Nickel - Barb Fitting £1.69 (£10.14)
1 x XSPC PSU Bridging Connector (24 Pin) £1.3
Total : £238.86 (includes shipping : £10.00).

Wow i didn't realise it was cost that much. Appreciate everyone's contribution, ill have to look at this at a later date.

Do it Matt!!!!!!!

V8 kit plus a 200 for the front and your laughing, it would be rude not to do the cpu as well, I'll easy do you an uber cut price on a Raystorm block, tonester has a 7970 old style Ek block for sale in the mm too, get on it!!!

Actually seen quite a bit of wc gear on the mm lately, very little you'd have to buy new!

I've joined your elite 1440 club now you can join my elitist wc club!!

I'll be on steam tonight Matt if you want a hand hunting for parts!

I've bought Tonester's 7970 block. Sorry :)

Matt, if you really want those temps, I may be able to part with Peter for a very reasonable price in the near future :D Turns out that a couple of Scythe GT's get around the same VRM temps when mounted on the bracket and shoved underneath.
Looks nicer too ;)

Its ok lads im going to leave it now and revisit when i have more money.

EDIT

Oh joy my fan controller has just died as well.

Then stop being a girl about it and fit a nice new lamptron controller in with a loop :p

:p
You can do it a hell of a lot cheaper than stated recently I bought my wc loop from mm for £60! (Ek4.0 pump,ek 120 rad(now spare),rasa CPU block, alphacool dual bay res, compression fittings)

Untill I went silly and bought a new case, massive rad, fans, controller and so on!lol
But it's extremely easy and cheap to build a non expensive loop tbh just scour the mm I got all my bits in like 2-3 days and saved hundreds of pounds.

If you want to do it real cheap you could always move the H80i to the roof (should be mount holes for a pair of 120 fans there) and fit a H40/60 or Kuhler 620 to the rear and attach that to the GPU :P

I spent about £60 cooling my gpu, as my first venture into watercooling. An EK block for £15, a radiator for about £10, pump for £20. Tubes and barbs were new, and I unwisely spent a tenner on feser 1 which tasted terrible and dyed my carpet blue.

Second hand really is the way to go. Watercooling kit doesn't really degrade with time, though occasionally someone has to wash off algae.
