im looking to go water cooled, but know nothing about it really just what ive read on here.
im not thinking anything big or glowing etc
just abit concerned with my big typhoon pulling down as its heavey, ive removed the IHS and temps have gone down but still about 10c between cores
have played and tighted it down but worried it might damage and after seeing the new scythe worried "how the hell it dont break the motherboard!!"

so just a few questions

do i need big rad or would single 120.1 be sufficiant for cooling cpu only(4400 x2 sckt939)
do i really need res?

thanks ali

No you don't *need* a bigger rad, but it would be wise to get a 120.2 sized one unless space is at a premium.

And again no you don't need a res. You can use a T-line instead. But a small res (like the Swiftech micro-res) is a sensible idea.

space ain an issue i got antec900, was also looking at the new nzxt and thought wonder if i can put rad at the top, im not worried if 120.2 but jsut thought i got spare bays

Do anyone (apart from the H2O kit) do a Rad/Res combo? A decent 120.2 Rad/Res and a Pump/CPU block combo would make the new NZXT case look amazingly tidy!

I have a single Swiftech 120.1 cooling an X2-3800@2500 and temps do not go over 40C at load. I use a (discontinued) Swiftech kit in an Antec and it's very neat and tidy.

Don't know what heat your chip puts out , but if Mike Timbers says a 120.1 will do , then fine , he knows his stuff.

As for a res , not needed.

A simple T - line will do as good a job and take up less space.

I've used both.
