i'm thinking of the best way to upgrade in the new year for vista and DX10 when it arrives :D

atm i have

AMD X2 3800
2Gb Twinx
Asus A8NSLI premium
7800 GTX
2 x 74Gb raptors in RAID 0
2 x 120GB seagates in RAID 0
Tagan 530 Modular PSU
X-Fi Fatal1ty

thinking of....

C2D E6600
2Gb 6400 DDR2
motherboard simliar spec to the A8N but which one ? Dual RAID a must ;)
see what DX10 cards come out keep the 7800 GTX for the time being
2 x 74Gb Raptors keep or sell and get the 150 16Mb version ? any quicker ? or does dropping the raid to a 150 make it slower
2 x 120Gb Seagates bin these and get a few 250Gb 16Mb drives and RAID them
keep the Tagan till i know what GPU i'll have
keep the X-Fi Fatal1ty
a nice Antec 900 to house it all :D
wont really be overclocking it as its a works PC

that'll keep you all busy :D

any thoughts ?

many thanks

Sounds like the best course of action, the 7800 should hold out til then depending on resolution. Not sure about the 16mb question.

imo, wait for:

dfi 680i
q6600
the refreshed g80

sell the 120's and get 1 or 2 500gb drives (samsungs are the cheapest)

no need to change raptors, raid is faster for games etc.
keep the tagan, its more than good enough, 480w tagan can power my 8800gtx
antec 900 has a few problems with the 8800gtx i have read. (card is about 6 feet long)
