What would you buy? Car for wife.

Yaris or Corolla would get my vote. My wife's 05 Corolla is on 208,000 or so miles and costs nothing to run. We've looked at getting her a new car but while this one refuses to die or throw big bills, it shall stay.
 
Something Japanese
Toyota Auris (medium size)
Mazda 3 (medium size)
Mazda CX 3 / CX-30 (mazda 2/3 but higher up if that's any bettter)
Honda Civic (Medium size)

How many miles a year? Driving around town or longer trips on motorways? Transporting kids? Do the kids need car seats, so big doors needed for easy access? Do you need boot capacity for buggies etc? What car does she drive now? What is she used to driving? Any preference on performance?

Some useful detail for the purpose would be good, other wise this thread is going to end up being a pointless list.

My Mrs has a Kia Ceed and she loves it. It's been very reliable, only exception being we had to replace a coil pack under warranty. I've had 10 years of Kia ownership and they've all been very reliable.

Mixture of around town and motorway to/from work. Been driving a ‘61 1.2 Corsa, wants more performance. No kids as our youngest is 21. No more than 7-8K per year.
