Basically, everyone seem to think that Apple's new laptop, MacBook Air has probably one of the most cheesiest / lamest / silly / down market name (kinda reminds me of what some people said about the iPod Touch...)

Anyway, what would YOU call it then?

I'll personally go for MacBook Slim or maybe a less cheesy (than Air) name... MacBook Wafer :D *Yum*

Names so far;

MacBook Air (Original name)*
MacBook Slim*
MacBook Wafer
PortaMac*
iSkinny*
MacBook Mini*
MacBook Thin
iMove (?)
Mac Crap (?)
MacBook Paper
MacPaper*
Pac-a-Mac (?)
MacBook Blade
MacBook Nano*
MacBook Micro
iPricey
iMKateMossOnCocaineThin* (?)
MacBook Lite*
MacBook Jiffy
MacBook Supermegacrazyslim
MacBook SizeZero*

*I've submitted a poll request with a Mod and hopefully we'll see these in the poll for you guys to vote for :)

better main product, whoever thinks that is a innovative and a generally good deal is ridiculous

I think the Time Capsule is the best on offer, 500GB+NAS+HUB (with a USB port for Printer/extra HDD) and both PC/Mac compatible, you can't find more.

That itself is good enough. The MacBook Air is all nice and new but shame about the pricing - however, if I were abit fat on the wallet, I'll buy it with no hesitation. Plus, you can't find ANY thinner laptop for that spec, that's enough to push a lot of ultra light laptop seeks Apples way.

It's all down to what people expect, what people want and what Apple can offer. Just because it doesn't offer you what you wanted don't mean it's a crap keynote this year...

i dont see what makes it good?

Why would you want to do a full mac on a plane or bus?

Isnt this just supposed to be portable? it seems ridiculous for £100 more you can get the macbook pro....

I just think if you need an extra portable device then the asus eee seems ideal especially £1000 cheaper.

Why would you need an external drive for the mb air?

I dont know thats just my opinion... but i think its a pointless expensive device

Here's an idea situation;

person A owns an iMac or MacBook Pro (17" or even the 15")
It's big, it's a lug around but that's the main system. Person A needs a laptop just for word processing, presentation, business meetings, uni lectures, college work on the go. What the MacBook Air offers is OSX, on the go and not breaking your back when carried in your rugsack / briefcase.

That's how I'm viewing it.

What the EEE PC does it offer small, portability with Linux system that does all the web, mails and such. It's brilliant in its own rights but the MacBook Air is basically your Scooter when compared to your family car. It does the same thing, get you from A to B but with lesser capacity, lesser horsepower - but it's very versatile and nippy in specific situations. (A crap analogy but that's how I think)

I'm not sticking up for the MacBook Air, it is good but the price really made it crap for my pocket.

Me thinks leaving it till tomorrow noon or something before I ask a mod to turn it into a vote thread :)

As it stands, many of you like the name MacBook Mini over the original Air. I personally don't like it, it's not "mini" in terms of small, it's just OMG! thin when compared to a MacBook...
