What would you change in this build?

Hi guys, I'm getting back into gaming more again and would like to build my own PC to save on some of the costs of the pre-built machines as well as to customise the look myself. I'm after a powerful machine built specifically around gaming on ultra settings at 144hz+ at 1440p.

Can you have a look at the build below and see if i've missed anything and what you would change to potentially save money or to make improvements? I'm not sure about the performance benefits of SSD over the WD Black HDD in terms of cost. I want some big storage, with the SSD to run the operating system and key programs.

The look of the PC is important too so I would like it to look clean.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,176.05 (includes shipping: £20.82)

I know you want good looks aswell as performance but the price of the RAM is mad for 3200mhz 16gb, Also I may be missing something but 6 cores 12 threads at £275 seems crazy when AMD Ryzen 3600 is almost £100 less if anyone can tell me what the extra money is for that would be great :)

Also check the motherboard Compatibility with 10th gen Intel I'm not sure if it will support it :)

1. 8c16t CPU compared to a 6c12, you could also go for the 6c12t Ryzen 3600 to save around £130.
2. X570 motherboard which has the capacity to upgrade to a 4000 series chip down the line if needed.
3. Much better PSU.
4. Higher capacity and much faster NvME drive compared to the M.2 SATA you selected.

Works out cheaper too.

You'll get better longevity out of the above and I doubt you'll notice any difference between the Intel build and AMD at 1440P in current titles.

Thanks for the replies, since I was a kid I have always had Intel CPUs so I guess I'm just drawn to them which is silly really. I'm really considering the AMD options.

When do you think the 4000 series chips will hit the shelves?

End of this year or early next if Covid pushes things back I would imagine.

You really do get more for your money with AMD, I wouldn't spend best part of £300 on a hexacore personally.

Looks good, you defo need to change motherboard though 10th gen Intel are z490 boards, unless it's a typo :) I'd also probably go noctua cpu cooler cause I'm a snob lol if it fits in case

One thing to bare in mine with an SSD is that the new consoles are going to be able to make use of super fast nvme to provide instant loading on games which may very well filter down to PC gamers in the next year or two. Even now an SSD will generally half the loading time of a HDD and means a less jerky smoother gaming experience where games use in game buffering.
