Heya folks, jus wanting to see what others would suggest. Currently On Orange with an average bill of £20 inc of line rental.
My tariff is:
£14 a month = 750 off peak calls to orange and landlines + 50 texts a month
Looking at upgrading and don't wanna spend more than about £25 a month line rental and saw these:
O2:
£25 = 1000 Off Peak X-Net mins 1000 texts (+ XDA Exec £150) 1 month min contract
T-Mob:
£13.50 = 1500 Off Peak Mins to T-Mob & landlines + 75 texts (+ MDA Pro £250) 18 month contract
£26.25 = Flext 35 - 750 Anytime Mins + 300 texts (+ MDA Pro £99) 18 month contract
I know it all depends on what I use the phone for and when and to be honest I am pretty good at controlling myself and only using the phone in the evenings. However, the severe lack of texts is the main drawback with the current tariff and need something more substantial.
A lot of my friends are on different networks (the sods!) so x-net mins would be useful and that is something the 02 tariff would have no probs with or the flext. However, the TMob off peak would be severely lacking in this area!
I think 1000 texts per month would be overkill to be honest and reckon my average texting is 5-10 per day so roughly 150-300 a month. Therefore, should I consider the cheaper off-peak t-mob with the 75 texts cos even if i go over the assigned 75 (STILL more than my current 50!) it will prolly still make the average bills under £25.
Its hard trying to decide whether to go for loads of off-peak minutes or try and find a balance. The thing is can I justify a tariff twice the price just because it has x-net mins anytime (with Flext) or off peak (o2) and covers all the texts I would want?
As it stands I can DOUBLE my mins and increase my texts by 50% just by switching to the Tmob off peak tariff and save 50p per month! (£13.50)
The cost of the XDA Exec/MDA Pro is not an issue but thought it would be worth seeing the difference in costs from £99-£250.
Its also worth noting the 1 month contract on o2 which basically frees me up whenever I want for the future. Also, the off peak charges are the cheapest of all the tariffs mentioned. In fact, taking into account the £150 for the XDA Exec on top of havin the cheapest off-peak charges and the 1 month contract - it really does make the decision all the harder!
Total Costs of Tariff + Phone:
O2 off peak = £150 phone + (£25x1/£25x12/£25x18) = £175 total(1 month) £450(12 month) £600(18 month)
Tmob off peak = £250 phone + (£13.50x18) = £493 total
Tmob Flext35 = £99 phone + (£26.25x18) = £571.50 total
With the Tmob Flext 35 I can pretty much guarantee that my bills wont EVER go over the monthly tariff PLUS I get to use the phone now whenever I want which is nice.
With Tmob off peak I will no doubt incur some charges thru peak rate chat and DEFFO more than the 75 allocated texts. NB the tariff is HALF the cost of the other choices!
With O2 I WONT use all the texts BUT will incur some charges with peak calls. Which would therefore suggest a MINIMUM of £25 per month if not £30.
Which would you suggest? Or do you have an alternative???
