What do you believe is the better one of the two for gaming now day's & Why?

Intel or AMD

NVIDIA or ATI

Water Cooling or Air Cooling

Just a couple quick questions =)

If I were to build myself a new rig right now for gaming purposes, I would go for:

AMD PhenomII 955 BE (I see a lot of reviews online showing the new Phenoms to have a slight edge in gaming over Intel Core i7 processors)

nVidia GTX295, (I had a bad experience with ATI graphics cards years ago, so I have used nVidia ever since!!!)

and I would choose a good air cooler because I don't know anything about water cooling, and would probably end up ruining my new hardware!!! :D

cheap: AMD+ATI+ air cool

Expensive: Intel+NV+ water cool

based on the budget vs performace and top range of components..

Urm, amd/intel which ever is cheaper for awesomeness (aka bang for buck) so id be on amd this time round.

Nvidia EVERY time now, bad ati linux drivers have ruined things for me many times (and the 9600gt i have now is nearly as awesome as the old gtx280 in my old desktop)

Air cooling all the way too, cant be bothered messing about with water

Can't say for sure but probably..
Intel, nVidia (purely for a change) and defo air.

Intel most likely since I think you'll get a bit more performance when comparing the affordable lower end parts like Q6600 v AMD equivalent. Nvidia (as above) though I like both as much as the other. Air - well have had a cpu under water before and although it did keep it cool, the main benefit was the lack of noise, other than that fans I was using around the time did the job re : temps just as well.

Well Im planning ot build a system with the 955 CPU, a 790GX mobo, 1gb 4870 and a stock cooler for now :P

Im on a budget though. If i wasnt, I might go with i7 and 295. Thats if id hit the lottery or something.
