Let me explain my problem lol. Currently upstairs in our bedroom we have an HTPC which has the 4690 i5 processor we have all our media exc stored on there and PLEX media server and PLEX home theatre all our films play 24p and play the large files and audio fine. Even though our ruarks are Stereo only it still direct plays with it been a PLEX client. Now the TV downstairs is the same TV as upstairs but larger now we have an android box connected to the tv and the connection is connected via Powerline adapter. Now just ordered another 6tb WD PRO from overclockers. Now i want plex home theatre on the TV downstairs aswell as KODI cause i do stream the odd tv programme exc on KODI. now my Question is would it be better for me to get one of the QNAP nas with 1 bay and have that for the tv downstairs via HDMI or get a pi3 for PLEX home theatre and keep the android box for kodi exc. But then i would have to get another powerline adapter for 2 devices which would cost over £100 for the pi3 and powerline adapters. So what would you do get a 1 bay NAS for the 6tb drive or stick it in my main pc and get a pi3 for the tv downstairs or have a nas connected to the downstairs and ditch the android box lol. Sorry for the long rant i hope it made some sense LOL

Why complicate things, get a usb 3.5 inch enclosure (put the drive into this), plug into pi3, plug pi into tv.
You can then unplug drive , plug into main pc to copy what you want which will be quicker than powerline, or use the pi's wlan to connect to network.
