Hi guys
I'm just wondering how to go setting up a few servers I have at home, these will be mainly for WCG but also I'd like to get some storage setup on them to allow for rather big dumps of any backups I have from my HomeServer (I'm kinda running low on space for that one lol) but I didn't really know what to do with regards to the raid setup.
I was toying with the idea of setting up a Raid 5, but if I am correct in saying, Raid 5 is kinda of frowned upon, so I'd like to listen and see what others might suggest
I was considering to install Linux Mint on it (if that works) and then use it as a cruncher and a file server..
Could anyone suggest anything else I could use?
Drive setup whilst I remember is currently
2 x 600Gb SAS 15k drives for possibly the OS
6 x 2Tb SAS 7.2k drives for storage.
I could cut down the OS as I don't think that would really need to be raid'ed but again, I'm really open to suggestions at this point
