Hi, i want to make a high end gaming comp for future onlines games like AION, dc online etc.. this is my spec im planning, Phenom II x4 quad 955, 1x 285GTX, 8GB of ram a mobo for around £150... (not sure which yet but one with a good chip set) .. only problem is.. ive just foudn out amd dont support ali any more with ddr3 ram >< .. so now im torn... do i
1: get a ddr2 am3 board and just sli and hope for the best lol+ get even mroe ddr2 ram

2: ORRR... get an intel cpu and mobo (which are a lot dearer and dont seem as good for gaming >< )
3: get a am3 ddr3 board and just run the 285GTX and hope i can get high settings on aion... My monitor runs at 1920x1200 :(.. My budget is about £370 and im not keen on over clcoking >< dont fancy my hardware going poof lol :(

i'd go with that, also get a decent cooler for the processor and overclock it, long as you overclock it properly and don't try and shove a silly voltage through it then it will be fine, read the guides on here explaining what to do to put your mind at rest.

would agree with the overclocking part i never really wanted to overclock as i was scared of the poof issue bit since i read this guide i had a little play and it was supprisingly simple just keep an eye on ur temps :)

Ok welcome, heres a couple of things that you should consider, DDR3 and DDR2 make 0% real world difference in games like aion. Aion will run on a much lower card wothout problems, personally i would get a GTX275 instead of a 285 or ATI4890. Intel run games just good as AMD dont get taken in by the Bench mark Bull. Overclocking does not make anything go poof it the person that didt do a bit research to make sure they keep temps and volts safe ;)
