What would you do? (unauthorised transactions)

My mams account was used to spend 300 quid in IKEA.. which she had nothign to do with.

The bank locked her account and gave her the 300 quid back...

Now Ikea have given her 300 quid back..

What would you do? keep hush, or tell em like a good citizen?

Put the money in a savings account (earning nothing atm)

if either ask for the cash back then let them have it, after 6 months give it to a good cause - no guilt that way.

seriously though, I wouldn't say anything, but wouldn't spend it for a while incase they notice. if they do and ask for it back, just say "oops sorry i didn't notice" and then give it back

Turns out I got mixed up. its only 115 quid.

her account was used for 300 quid from Hugo Boss but that was only refunded by the bank, and not hugo yet

so by me using the term "moral brigade" you infer I have no morals at all? I like your sense of warped logic there

The only reason I said that was because I've seen so many threads like these that go something like this:

OP discovers money has come his way in error.
Some replies say "keep it".
Then sooner or later some **** rides in on their high horse with utter crap saying stuff like "you should all be ashamed of yourselves. I would never do anything like this. If it were me I would give it back wrapped in roses & kittens, because I am so much better than all you. Thanks internet, +1 moral points for me."

It would appear that Stoofa was on the button judging by your rant against people who believe it is wrong to keep money that does not belong to you.
