what would you do with £170 and my pc.

you have £170 to spend and you want nothing but improved gaming performace for your ever so loved computer with the following specs

enermex 535w psu
asus a8n-sli se mobo
amd 3700+ sd cpu
2 gig corsair xms c2 ram
1x xfx 7600 gt gc
1x 80gb sata hdd

would you buy another 7600 gt for an sli setup, plus another 80gb sata to put in raid 0 for £164

or would you sell the 7600 gt for £100 and get an XFX GeForce 7900 GT XXX Edition 256MB for £258

i dont plan on touching this pc with my money for another year or 2!!!!
 
Sell the 7600GT for about £80, and put that and the £170 towards an X1800XT 512MB, or just a 256MB version if you don't use AA/AF and high resolutions. Or you could maybe get an X1900XT :)

definitely the latter

RAID 0 provides so little real world performance difference its not worth it. It will maybe get you into games 1/2 seconds quicker (if at all, some tests say not)

whereas a 7900 GT will boost your FPS significantly.

if you can get the extra, the X1900 XT at £270 gives about 40% more FPS for about 20 % more cash, so is much better value for money. but the 7900 GT is still a sound choice.
 
sell the 7600gt, get the cheapest 7900gt/x1800xt you can and buy a 250gb samsung spinpoint for a bargain price of £53
 
If you do a few google searches you'll find you'd be better with a single higher card then 2 lower SLI cards, generally.
 
He could get practicly the same preformance from buying an x1800xt, except it would be cheaper, so leaves more room for a better HDD.
 
defo a 7900GT or x1800xt!

you can get another small hard drive in a few months if you run out of space..it would only cost £30 (when u need it). In the meantime....let that baby fly with a new GPU :D

If he sells the 7600GT he will have £270 to spend... like I said get a 250gb samsung and a 7900gt/x1800xt

exactly what id do! But the goods though on a credit card first. Ebay your card...get the money and then pay it all off. Man..you can order today :D
 
im not botherd about the hdd. the one i got is good enough for me, as i dont store much stuff on my pc, just use it for gaming im going to concentrate on getting better fps.

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB

just wondering.. with this card, would i be able to play f.e.a.r on 1024x768 with EVERYTHING on max including soft shadows, 4xaa, anisotropic 16x ect at an fps above 80
 
I should bloody well hope so with a £250+ gfx card. It can do about 60fps at 4xAA and 16x AF at 1600x1200, so it should have no problem with 1024x768 (according to a review site).

wicked, just seen it at *****. looks good.

to install it.., would i just have to uninstall the 7600 driver. replace the card.. then install the ati driver...
 
when you have uninstalled the nvidia drivers, boot into safe mode (F8 on boot) then use driver cleaner. Google for it :)

Its always best to format tho when changing gfx card makes
