i currently have the evga 260 core 216
im looking to sell this soon and get either
280 or 4870x2
but i cant for the life of me decide which way to go. with my last 4870 512 i ended up rma'ing after a month and im abit nervous about ati again.
I cant go for the 4850x2 as it wont fit in my lexa blackline, so its either 280 at the nice prices there at now, or x2.
I have a close friend who is possibly going to the US on business so im hoping that they will bring me one back.
what sort of price drop are we expecting to see for the x2's ?

What you currently have is a great card and will run all games to a nearly always very high standard. I doubt you'd see that much improvement with a 280gtx @ stock even if the prices are tempting, ...upgrade bug? I would have thought that the x2's will be a similar length though I can't remember. I suppose it could be worth your while considering, if it fits, a 4870x2 if you game at high res. Failing that if you are still wanting to upgrade then I'd get the 295. Perhaps your friend could help you out there on his travels :)

I recently went from a X2 to my 260 and tbh other than benchies, games feel no different to play. Im happy for the mo but will prolly get another when i go i7 towards the summer time.

YES !
i hate it, i dont need to, i just want to

Hehe, I know how you feel though. It was happening to me and in the end I just had to stop, I've already spent loads. My big regret is going for the q6600 when I should have gone for the q9550. Still grates me that does.
Anyway m8, if you want the new card you damn well get it ! :D
