Hey all,
I've got 4 months left on my contract with orange. (ends on sept 18th)
I really want a Touch HD and I'm very Kean to get it as fast as possible, however I don't want to spend loads of cash right now.
Currently I have a cannery 30 WAP + unlimited data for £30 month package(includes cross network minutes and free txt's as well) and I'd like to keep this as it suits me great.
Option 1,
Order the Touch HD today on a dolphin 30 plan from a third party and then ring orange once it's here and add the 500mb data package for an extra £5er a month to make the monthly payment £35.
Take the hit on the old contract to cancel it early, (£120 @ 4 x £30)
Sell my HTC touch elf for £50
Total cost = £70
Option 2,
I'm due an upgrade on the 18th of next month so I could wait till then and see if they can offer me the Touch HD. I don't think they just give me this phone free as I don't spend huge amounts of cash with them so some sort of charge will have to be paid. (if they can offer it at all!!) It's a very expensive hand set so I'm thinking they'll be wanting somewhere round the £150 to £200 mark.
Plus, I can then keep my old tariff.
Sell my elf for £50
Total cost = unknown as unsure what the upgrade charge will be.
Option 3,
Wait until the upgrade is available and then see what they can offer.
If the handset costs more then £100 I'd be better off cancelling the old contract (£90 @ 3 x £30) and taking out a new contract from a third party where the phone is free.
Only downside is the monthly charges will be £5 more expensive until I'm 9 months in where I'd then be able to downgrade the tariff back to how it is at the moment.
So, what would you do???
Does anyone want to take a stab at what orange might want to charge me for the upgrade??
I know this sounds cheeky, but I keep turning this round in my head and everyday I settle on a different answer so I'm in need of a little outside perspective.
Cheers in advance guys, and sorry for the long post!!!
