Hi all,

I've got a small dillema - So need some advice please.

My cousin sister's got together and bought me an Emporio Armani watch (RRP £275) - as a late birthday present.

Thing is - I don't like the watch - It's not the type I would wear. Infact I already have one quite similar, and I've never worn it.

What do I do?

- Keep it and shut up (But I wouldn't wear it - So it'd go to waste)

- Tell them I don't like it...and ask if it could be exchanged ( If it can't be exchanged - I'm screwed)

- Sell it and buy one I like (this is a bit cheeky)

Anything else..?

How often do you see them?

As it was given to you as a present you're pretty much free to do what you like with it although I agree it would seem a bit cheeky to sell it and get something else without checking with them first.

If they've got any sense they'll have kept the receipt (esp. as it was a present). Tell them you've already got one similar (no feelings hurt) and ask if you can exchange it for another of your choosing.

If they have spent that much on you, I think it's worth letting them know as kindly as possible, that it's not the watch for you. If they see you never wearing it it's likely to cause more upset than if you let them know.

I think I would sell it and then replace it with one you do like, if they ask about the watch just say you wasn't too sure of the style so you traded it in for the new one.

I'm sure they wont mind as long as you replace it with a watch and not some fancy graphics card or PSU.

I'd be honest with them. If they like you enought to spend £275 on you then they'll understand if you don't like it and want you to have one you do. Well you'd hope so anyway.

Tell them you don't like it, they shouldn't be bothered. Bought my dad a phone for fathers day, one he wanted with GPS and crap but it turned out to be an annoying phone and not what he expected so he went out and bought a new phone and I'm putting his old one on ebay today.

Don't tell them you don't like it, perhaps mention that you already have one very similar, so would it be possible for you to swap it for another?

Aren't your cousin's sisters......your cousins?

Tell them you don't really like it and ask for the receipt so you can exchange it. If they haven't got the receipt flog it and buy yourself something you do like.

Whatever you do don't lie, no need for it.

Just tell them you real appreciate the gift and that it's just not something you want to wear regularly, and that you would prefer to have something you can.

Step1:Get it insured at top level of cover.

Step 2: Put watch on wrist.

Step 3:Go clubbing and drink as much as it is humanly possible to do so in one night

Step 4:Wake up next morning on park bench minus watch.

Step 5: Insurance pays out value of watch.

Problem is solved everybody is happy you have money for it, relatives feelings don't get hurt, and its not insurance fraud as you can't remember a damn thing that happened :)

Oh of course that can't possibly go wrong.

Why not just say you got into a battle with time traveling ninja's who were trying to reclaim to Staff of Lu-Ting-Wu.
