Say one of your close friends is going out with a girl who you know is 90% likely to break his heart, but he's totally in love with her. Say you knew that she was lying to him here and there, about saying she's not smoking, about a suspicious love bite and just generally about her appreciation for him and flirtyness with other men. You've witnessed it all, and some of it she's told you 'not to tell him please'.

Do you think it's your duty to keep out of their business or get yourself involved?

Personally I've said nothing, I like to see him happy and I've just kind of figured that me getting involved is only going to cause problems, and make him unhappy, and it's not really any of my business. I mean, it is my business because he's one of my best friends, but it's not, if you know what I mean.

But I'm getting a lot of stick from (mainly women) types saying that I should tell him if she's lying to him. I also don't really want to ever be in that 'well Sawell knew about it all along' positions and then pull aggro from my mate. But I don't want to come between his happiness, it seems like I'm in one of those situations where I'm screwed no matter what. If he does ever find out I knew and didn't tell him he's gonna flip, but then if I tell him he'll be unhappy and probably flip anyway.

Use the info you have on her to Blackmail her into Sordid pasty smashing sessions & only tell your mate if she won't go oxo.

Don't be so emo. It's his life.

Bad girls = good for fun. So what if it doesn't last? It's not like they're engaged.

If I found out one of my mates knew, what my girlfriend was saying/doing behind my back after it all goes **** up, I'd not be impressed.

I'd say tell him, I'm sure hes a big enough boy to make up his own mind about what you say.

Tell him, but do nothing more.

I had a mate once who was going out with a complete idiot, always chatting other girls up behind her back. The more I told her what an idiot he was, the more she would cling to him, the more she started to dislike me and ended up not talking to me for a year. He then ditched her for a 16 year old with a bigger chest

So yeah, tell him once but don't get any more involved than that. That way, when it all goes belly up your mate will say 'I should have listened to you all along!' :D

if you tell him he may do a butters (completely ignore you and say their lvoe is forever) but just say look i know her and she may not be who she appears to be or somethin.

They got a flat together after a few months. :( I think they're getting a cat too :(

Well...

Are they 17? None of this would bother me in the slightest.

Seriously? She's smoking behind his back? Quick to the internet!

More reason to sit him down and just explain your being up front because its on your mind and you think he deserves to know.

I would want my best mate to tell me if he knew something was going on.

Have you never had a relationship? :p

It's this thing that makes it strong, I think it's called trust or something. Saw it in a movie once.

I forgot to give a serious answer as well. :o

If you were my mate & you didn't tell me then we would Fall out for a bit after a gave you a mouth full.
Now if you told me she was dodgey then I could just use & abuse her until I was fed up & not take her seriously.
If you let me go on thinking she was a good woman & protecting her dodgey ways then when I did find out I'd feel like a fool & as mates you should Protect each other not some dodgey tart.

I'd stay out of it, because if you tell him and he sides with her, you've lost a mate, if you don't tell her, when it all goes **** up then you can be there for him as and when it happens. :)

Yeah but I've never seen him so happy. It's like telling a little girl that fairy tales don't exist and she'll probably be up the duff when she's 16 living off benefit.

Also, he's taken hos before bros to a whole new level. I suspect even if I did tell him, without evidence and harsh conviction he'd want to believe her more and then she'd probably turn him against us and then blah blah blah, see where I'm going with this?
