Hi all,

A simple one this I think - just wan't your oppinion.
The problem:-

I have a nice silver Coolermaster atsc840 case which I bought last year. Just recently I found a scratch on the motherboard side panel - so I thought I would be clever and sand the scratch off, but of course I have now ended up with a big area that is bright metal looking and it stands out horribly.

So I thought maybe I should paint the two side covers in a metaalic blue and have a two tone case - leave the rest of the case as standard. The other side panel btw has a window in it that I made and fitted myself.

Or should I just contact coolermaster and order a replacement silver side panel to replace the scratched one?????

Just cant seem to make up my mind as to the best way to go.

What do you think guys?

Personally I don't like cases that stand out too much, so I'd probably contact Cooler Master. On the other hand I might use it as an excuse to send it away to be powder coated.:p

Cheers for the only response so far - getting it powder coated could and probably will cost more than just replacing the side cover from Coolermaster.

Oh well decisions decisions????

Sorry for not being clear, I meant that I'd use it as an excuse to get it powder coated any colour of my choice. Which I suppose depending on the colour contradicts what I said about not liking my cases to stand out too much.

Back to your original question, I personally don't like the idea of a two tone case, so I'd probably just get in touch with Cooler Master about a replacement.

Personally think it would look a bit naff, especially on a nice simple looking case with no crappy plastic bits sticking out.

Kinda of made my chuckle that you decided to sand it out which would obviously make it worse.

In response i would first try getting it painted... if worst comes to worst you can still get a replacement from coolermaster, but you might as well have a go with a paintjob

I thought - mistakenly with the benefit of hindsight, that as it was a brushed aluminium finish that I could blend it, but sadly no such luck, as you say I made it worse - we all live and learn by our mistakes.

Cheers for the input though.

Not quite sure what you mean by mobo tray - don't see how that would help, unless of course you are being sarcastic!!!!
Surely not...

You did say motherboard side panel, which sould quite easily mean the motherboard tray...

Sorry - but I only said that so that people would know which side I was talking about, I suppose I should have realised that it could be misleading. Just for the record so that there is no more confusion I am talking about the right hand side panel if you are viewing from the front of the case.

I apologise to ace modder for my earlier comments - hope they did not cause offence, as that is the last thing I would wish as everybody is so helpful on here.
