So I've come back in tonight and found that a car which I have never seen before is in my designated parking space (it has my number on it on the ground and it's sign posted with my number too.)

So now I'm rather annoyed, and I'm tempted to either move my car directly behind the offending car to block them in, or attach my tow bar to his car and pull it out of my space.

Now of course, in an ideal world, me doing this would have no repercussions, and the offender would come to me with their tail between their legs, and an apology, but in the real world it could be any sort. Now before I've blocked someone in for parking there multiple times, and it went well, but today I've decided seeing as I have never seen this car to just leave it be for now.

So OCUK what would you do? Baring in mind despite not having my space, I have found somewhere to park..

PS if anyone is currently bored in the Birmingham area, by all means help me come and move it ;)

I've blocked people in before, but I've once had to go and stop them because they were attempting to get out with about 3 inches to turn in.

I would leave a note on their windscreen, and then block them in if they did it again :D

Had this a few times when I lived at my old flat. Designated parking for each apartment.

There was one particular car that did it a number of times. On the first occasion, I left a friendly note on the windscreen.

By the third time, you can imagine me and my flatmate were less than pleased. We parked both our cars right up against both sides of his, stopping him from getting in. We moved the cars after a couple of days and he didn't park there again.

In your case, I'd just leave a note.

If I was close I would come round with a couple of trolley jacks and help you move it. Sounds like fun :D

You are going to need to park there so it will be obvious who had beef with them. You have a chance of your car being vandalised or some such. I would go with the note/warning route first then look at something more drastic afterwards.

Go to bed and forget it mate.

If you've got nowhere else to park and you wouldnt block anyone else in, then block him in.

If not, then what Mark said :)

Do what my dad did when some imbecile parked on his drive....

He rang up his work and asked one of the drivers to drop a skip off for him which they did an hour later and left it on the drive with no possible way of getting past it.

To say the little fella who knocked on my dads door to complain was irate is an understatement, especially as the skip didnt get picked up for 3 days.

The police did laugh about it and said my dad had done nothing wrong, especially as there are 2 signs up stating that it is a private drive and no parking.

I'd put a polite note on the windscreen, no point doing anything silly or antagonising the guy.. unless he keeps doing it..

most people will be reasonable...

Well it was still there when I left this morning. If its still there tonight and I'm home at a reasonable hour I'll ask around. If no one knows who's it is... well then I'll move it! *picks up keyboard*

Well when it is moved can i suggest getting a drop down bollard? They're not expensive, easy to install and will prevent this from happening :)

They might just be a numpty and not know (even with the signs).

Good luck but I wouldn't bother doing anything that might end up in damage to your car and I'd take a note of the plate just in case something does happen to it. The police won't do much but I'm sure that plate will come in handy when you're exercising the keyboard skillz ;)

Thing is with the friendly note, if they don't go to their car they won't see it. As would have been the case if I left a note last night, it would still be there, they would be none the wiser, and I wouldn't have my space.

I'd love to put up a post, put I'm not entirely sure if I'm allowed to do that even though technically I own that space..
