Depends if the image looks like butt because you're running at a non native resolution.

I've always found that changing to an out of spec resolution results in a very poor picture quality.

I always run native res - it's why I went crossfire. I just didn't realise the hit going up from 1080p would be THAT big.

Things just look so damn good on a 27" 2560x1440 monitor... though they also look pretty darn good in 3D on my LG DM2780D, so I have a hard time picking which to play on

If you can set everything to max on 1440p but live without AA then do that imo, otherwise 1080p @ max.

Maximum settings on a native 1080p monitor
or
Lower from maximum on a native 1440p monitor

Personally, I'd rather have a prettier image at 1080p than a more detailed, less prettier image.
