Let's assume that you earn a wage.

Let's further assume that an additional [amount] a quarter would be A Good Thing.

The offer is to leave what you love to do versus something which you're really, really good at.

No, don't do any INB4 A THING, I can't be bothered, not tonight guys.

I should do this, shouldn't I?

Depends what you'd have to do & how bad it is, 20k is a lot of money for some things but not enough for others.

So you're good at this thing which would mean an extra 80k a year, do you HATE this task that you're good at, or just really love what you're doing?

Which is more important to you? Earning a decent wage, or enjoying work. Do you currently have enough money to keep you and your family happy? Will this extra money be life changing?

Personally, I'd be tempted to do it for a year or two, as unless I hated it the extra cash would be good. However, if it was an odious task/daily grind, then I'd forget about it and keep at it. However, I'd also consider my personal life and financial situation before making the decision. I'm not THAT driven by money, so it's hard to know what to say.

Do you enjoy doing what you're really, really good at?

Yes, I enjoy it. I love it.

e : ah, I'm slow ...

It's not a task, it's a role change, a significant one. I love what I'm doing but I'm probably better suited to this new opportunity in terms of longer terms plans.

I earn a good wage and my family is happy. The money would not be life changing but would be a plus.

Well then it's a no brainer.

A) Do something you love, less money.
B) Do something you love, more money.

What's the problem here?

Is there something in particular that you would do with the money? How important is earning money to you?

If the answers are 'No' and 'Not very', I'd stick with what you love. Taking a pay cut and adjusting your lifestyle accordingly can be quite difficult; some of my mates have been in horrible jobs for years because they want the dosh.

So, if you're really, really good at it - and you love doing it - and you earn 80000 more per year?

Whats the question again? ;)

What?

So you love doing the thing that will eanr you 80k more as well? Or do you love doing what you are doing now more.

You're in procurement or something aren't you? If I've remembered that correctly is that the thing you are good at or thing you love?

Sounds like an easy decision to make. Go for the other job. You can end up enjoying it or making it your own anyway, and for an extra 80k - definitely doesn't sound as though it'll be a stressful decision.

Sorry, my OP was vague. I've got a lot of things on my mind. I love what I do but I could bring something to this new role.

is the job fapping ?

I wish it was.

I'm in procurement, yes.

New role accepted, just in case anyone wants closure (you don't and shouldn't).

I know that I knock the forums sometimes but even after I'd talked at length about this with my wife and daughter, I still wanted to get your ideas. Odd, huh?
