Just before xmas i took delivery of my dream new pc.

From a very well know pc manufacturer.

Not long after getting it i started to get constant BSOD every single time i tried to start the pc.

It crashed before loading windows with the whea uncorectable error message sitting there with a big blue screen looking at me.

Trying to re set it and re start proved fruitless as all the front connectors apart from the ''on'' button seem to be not connected and not working.

After several fruitless attempts at contacting the ''well known pc manufacturer'' i get a reply saying maybe it is the overclock causing the problem and you should disable it.

Problem is in my order for the ''Dream pc' i went with the option in my mind for no overclock.. an i7 6900 @ 3.20 GHz. rather than the i7 6950 @ 4.20 GHz

And i told the person who suggested i disable the overclock this.

His reply was the guy who built the ''Dream pc'' sent it out of the factory overclocked.

But looking at the control panel>system security>system page it shows i7 6900 @3.20GHz

So it is what i ordered but the guy who sent it out the factory seems to think it was overclocked when it left him.

they are offering to have it shipped back to them for a repair.

I am in 2 minds though

I spent a lot of money on this ''Dream pc'' i took a long time to decide on the right one. and a long time saving up for it.

I dont want a repair. i want it to be working right / replaced or i want my money back.

if you had spent over £5000 on a new pc wouldnt you expect it to be working first time out of the box ?

Or maybe my total frustration at having my Dream pc turn into a humming box that displays only a big blue screen is clouding my judgement.

so go at me fellow pc geeks tell me if i am being a cry baby or if im right to be frustrated.

what would you expect ?

Let them take it for repair {even though it does not look like they built it right the first time}

push for a total replacement {stating you want it built right this time }

Or push for full refund as its not fit for purpose.

Also learn how to use paragraphs that was horrible to read.

This,

But more importantly give them a chance to fix the issue, yeah you spent a crazy amount on your "dream pc" so I'd be very annoyed also but if the "well known company" are worth their salt they will get this rectified quickly.

Follow whatever policy there is for a refund, and, yes, they may attempt to perform the necessary repairs before finally accepting a return. In situations like this, just let them crack on with the procedure. If they are total muppets, you'll get your 5K+ back; otherwise, you will end up with a working PC. Do not stay silent and make use of your consumer rights to the full -- simples.

My mate bought a PC few years ago (similar case to you, dream PC, pre built), on the first night of owning it, he was getting blue screens on boot up.

Turned out to be the HDD cable slightly pulled out, might be worth checking the basics.

You want your PC to work.

It isn't.

You are in two minds about allowing them to take it back from you to correct the problem to get to the resolution you desire.........?

Do you see the problem here?

Let them take a look at it, it could be something as simple as a faulty RAM stick that's causing the issue that went un-noticed when testing.
