The mind boggles how you get anywhere with that attitude.

Except that wasn't the case as I pointed out I was getting it and the instructor encouraged me to carry on. I HOWEVER dislike manual so I choose what I enjoyed.

I had spent 10 hours doing manual plus time in the car me and Mrs had at the time.

It's better to be on the road than not be on it at all.

I still have to pay attention to the road and drive sensible the same as every other road driver who is in a manual car.
