• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

What would you have done?

If you're going to replace it in only 7 months time, then it doesn't really matter.

The 1060 though is straight up better than the 970, and destroys it in VR.

Plus it will sell better than a 970 in 6 months time because the 970 secondhand market will be flooded with cards going for peanuts.

This is definitely not the time to be buying a 970.

Wait until you're getting the VR headset, don't buy an end of life card when you do not even plan on using it's vr capability yet.

And according to that same website, a 1060 is only 11% more than 970 for 25-50% more money.

Oh hey... did nvidia just release a card with a performance of a 2 year old card for more money?

That's interesting. The same site has teh 980 at 970+18%.

Currently it has the 1060 at 970+10%.

You can't accuse a benchmark aggregater of having bias :p

I think it goes to show how many review sites were "influenced" by nVidia, to make the claim that the 1060 is *faster* than a 980.

Clearly in the real world, it isn't. By a fair chunk.
