Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I'm looking for someone to offer me some advice on what you would upgrade to get your pc to a good standard?
I think it's still lacking some punch, I thought I might start by adding some extra ram and go to 16gb.

the current specifications are:

processor - AMD FX (tm)- 6300 six core processor 3.50ghz
installed Ram - 8.00gb (7.90)

I'm very new to this and got Maplin to build me it originally.

is it easy to add an option of having two monitors?

Thanks in advance

Depends on what you are using the PC for?
Also missing a lot of specs. Graphics card? Hard drive or SSD. Overall it is a very old and weak PC by even current budget standards, but still need more info

Not going to lie that cut deep.

anyway, I was hoping to do some gaming on it, was hoping for may be the new banner lord game and some of the total war games.

I have a 970 pro gamin/aura motherboard I think? radeon RX470 graphics card I have 1 TB of storage.

Sorry about that. At least your GPU is OK. I would assume that your 1TB is a mechanical HDD. A SSD can breath new life to general snappiness of your PC. From what I've heard it has a big benifit for Total War games in loading and turn times. Looking forward for gaming your Fx 6300 ain't gonna cut it no more and CPU upgrade isn't worth it. Look into a new CPU, motherboard and RAM.

Adding extra ram is unlikely to make much difference here, if you plan on upgrading the cpu any time soon it'll be a waste of money as recent processors use DDR4 so it would incompatible in a new build.

Having a second monitor is as simple as plugging another in to the gpu. You just need to check what i/o you have free on the graphics card (displayport or hdmi) and make sure the monitor you get supports it

It depends how much you are looking to spend really.

New cpu means you are going to need a new motherboard and ram - Ryzen gives you the best bang for buck right now, the 3600 for example is great value.

You could keep the power supply (assuming it's decent and not too old) and the case. You may also consider keeping the 470 for now until the next gen of graphics cards come out later this year

I think I could spend close to £900. Sorry I haven't been amazing at sharing my specs, I've been trying to do this whilst at work. I'm also not very savvy at this stuff.
What's do you do with your old stuff? Shall I just start from scratch?
