Looking at my system spec in my sig, what would be the next thing to update, my initial reaction is to update the mobo before getting a better cpu or graphics...or maybe just update from XP to Vista. I have a little extra cash each month and would rather do smaller cheap upgrades every month than do big upgrades every 5/6 months because i'll have spent the money elsewhere by then.

Oh yeah, only thing i'm really happy with is the monitor. :)

For gaming maybe get a second 8800GT as you have an SLI mobo. Otherwise to get a noticable advantage you are probably going to have to go intel. Realistically you will probably want a £100 X45 based mobo and a Core2 that you are going to run at 3.6Ghz or more to notice much difference.

Mmmm tricky one, really depends on your budget and your motive for upgrading. For general Windows use, keep your mobo and drop in a X2 6400 which should give a nice enough boost or splash out on a Phenom X4 which is reported to work in your mobo. If you are a gamer, consider upgrading the graphics card to a 4870 perhaps?

I have been thinking about going intel again, only have AMD as I got a good deal on this system from a friend.

Budget is about £50-£100 per month, motive is basically to keep on top of things on a month by month basis. I am mainly a gamer and a bit of web design in my spare time, occasionally do some movie encoding, that's about it really.

I would probably go for a X4 9850 or higher, as there are only 4 X2 Duals left on overclockers...then save up for a GTX 280 which by the time of thinking of purchasing may be a lot cheaper or newer models. (personally I would also steer clear of dual graphics cards, on either platform...as it is not worth twice the price IMHO)

Or if your planning on going to intel then a good duo and mobo wont be much over 200 pounds.
