hi guys i am looking to upgrade my rig. i am a gamer not a streamer or anything, havnt got exactly the most amount of money so i am looking for your advice on what to upgrade first as i will only be able to afford one thing at a time. i have recently posted on here about a problem i have had with my current pc and that seems to be settled. so now looking for upgrades, some have said ram/SDD but which one first and to what?

my current set up..

cpu - AMD ryzen 7 1800x

mbd - gigabyte ab350

gpu - radeon rx580 8gb

storage - seagate 2tb hybrid drive

8gb of ram (2x4) corsair lbx 3000mhz

any thoughts on what to upgrade first and to what, would be greatly appreciated.

i have updated this machine for the past 8 years so not sure whats good and what isnt anymore lol. thanks for any help :)

A SSD will make startup and game loading times much, much faster.

A RAM upgrade - another 8 GB will help prevent slowdowns within games when the PC starts paging. You can test this by running Task Manager on a second monitor and monitoring memory use: if you exceed 8 GB you're paging to disk.

The SSD should be your first upgrade as even without the RAM upgrade, paging will be much faster.

240 GB is the minimum size I'd recommend given the large sizes of today's games; you should go for 500 GB or more.
